CD Review: You and You Alone

Pastor Pat Sczebel, with son Joel, wrote all the music on this latest album from Sovereign Grace Music, a division of Sovereign Grace Ministries.

Pat Sczebel is associate pastor at CrossWay Community Church in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. This album (OK, it’s actually a CD, I’m dating myself here) contains lead sheets and guitar sheets in PDF format.

Here are some of the songs on You and You Alone:

Trust In You and Over All
Speak of Christ’s reign over all creation (Matthew 28:18; Ephesians 1:22); sovereignty over all kingdoms and all rulers (Daniel 2:21); and that nothing can thwart His plans (Isaiah 46:9-10; Job 42:2b; Lamentations 3:37-38).

The Greatest of All
Celebrates The Great Exchange - my sin for His righteousness. The greatest of all transactions, the costliest purchase price, was Christ’s atoning death given in payment for mine. As a result, I’ll never know God’s judgment because Jesus Christ was judged for me, cancelling my debt and satisfying the law’s demands.

In You
Reminds us that in Jesus Christ is grace; perfect rest; deliverance from shame; awesome mercy; sweet forgiveness; and joy forevermore.

You Are Good
Proclaims God’ goodness toward us through Christ who gave His life to save us - His righteous for our unrighteous - so that we could know His grace. Forever, lasting mercy; immeasurable grace. You may download a free MP3 of this song here.

You Alone
As with The Greatest of All, this is a song of God’s atoning work on Calvary. "Once a slave to sin, condemned to die and know Your wrath; but in wondrous love You gave Your Son to bear it all."

And Track 8, Lord, You Are Gracious, is my favorite. I will let the words of this song speak for themselves.

You do not treat us as our sins deserve
Though we are guilty as charged
Your Son was treated as if responsible
For all my sin

(Chorus) Lord, You are gracious
Lord, You are compassionate
Slow to anger, rich in love
Lord, You are

Your Son was perfect, blamelessness itself
Father, You turned Your face away
You bruised and crushed Him that I might know Your grace
For all my days (Chorus)

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases
His mercies never come to an end
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases
His mercies never come to an end

Slow to anger, rich in love
Lord, You are

Also on this album are Yesterday, Today and Forever; I Surrender All; and Jesus, You Are Beautiful.

Purchase this CD through Sovereign Grace Music, and allow its biblically rich truths to minister to you as they have to me.
